Something that is described as “SMOKE and MIRRORS” is intended to make you believe that something is being done or is true, when it is not. Such is the whole affair with Marcos Junior. Everything is nothing but a big smoke screen which comes directly from liar’s playbook to propagate deception without regard to the truth. All the relentless lies from one’s Oxford degree to Marcos Gold.
Honestly, it’s hard to breathe with all this smoke — the disguising or exaggerating of the truth of a situation with deceptive or immaterial information. Even worse than the smoke we’re experiencing right now is when someone isn’t telling you the truth, but instead is vigorously working to obscure what you somehow know to be true.
Then again last Friday, another lies of being sick which come as subterfuge to pure malingering or laziness. I personally do not want to trivialize this ongoing surge of the Omicron variant but I am also a strong believer that, “Kung Gusto Mo May Paraan, at Kung Ayaw Mo May Dahilan”. Obviously, the hastily made-up medical certificate is in defiance and contempt of the COMELEC. A clear disregard of the law. So, what’s new? Marcos JR was never the one to follow the law anyway, a clear sense of entitlement that one is above the law.
We should look outside Marcos JR’s illusory bubble of lies for objective truth, to get perspective beyond the smoke and mirrors. Lucidity does exist, even when we are seemingly caught up in a place of literal smoke, or the infuriating, mindboggling moments muddled by smoke and mirrors created by fake news and trolls. To find out what’s really going on, we may want to take a moment to rise above what we think we know, and to do the hard work of looking for objective truth. There exists a blue sky out there somewhere beyond the smoke, and beyond the smoke and mirrors.
At this point Marcos JR’s, only consistency is his constancy of lies. A litany of falsities from his tax case conviction to his continuous denial his father’s corruption and atrocities during their 20-year regime in the 70s and mid-80s until they were rightfully overthrown by the People’s Power revolution. So, what do expect of a liar? I guess more lies, more smoke and mirrors — and the recent COMELEC hearing was no exemption.
Marcos JR’s evasion of the truth and continuous pronouncements of his eligibility to run and serve in government does not exonerate him of his crimes or make it less implementable. It only goes to show that a convicted criminal like him can still use all available means to distort the truth and build an arrogant sense of entitlement that one is above the law.
