As the leading European investor in the Philippines, the United Kingdom remains confident that more opportunities await the Philippines as many economic reform laws are already been approved pending the implementing rules and regulations.

Speaking to THEPHILBIZNEWS, British Chamber of Commerce Philippines’ Executive Director and Trustee Chris Nelson bared that there are many more trade and investment opportunities awaiting for the country which they discussed during the meeting with Trade Commissioner Natalie Black and British Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils on March 3, 2023.

Part of the discussion, Nelson shared the achievements of the British Chamber such as the successful UK-PH Meat Trade Missions in May and December 2022 and revealed that there are many activities that the chamber has prepared for 2023 to sustain the momentum and efforts done last year.

One of the successful and visible results is the strong demand for British pork exports to the Philippines from around 25,299 tonnes in 2021 to 33,861 tonnes in 2022, with a 34 percent increase, respectively.

Apart from that, the extension of lowered tariffs on meat and the ratification of RCEP both are included in the British Chamber’s 2023 wishlist.

Another much-awaited event that British Chamber and the British Embassy plan to stage is the Great British Festival which will run on March 25-26 and is expected to have jampacked visitors who long to experience the best of Britain as the Philippines and the United Kingdom celebrate this year’s 77th Diplomatic Relations with investment opportunities, arts, and innovation on the weekend in Bonifacio High Street, BGC, Taguig City!
