Last October 26, 2019 there was a news that allegedly claimed that some of Mekeni Food Corporation pork products were contaminated by African Swine Fever (ASF).
Mekeni which takes pride of their world class facilities, being the first meat processing to be given ISO certification in the Philippines and in Asia, and second in the world, voluntary pulled out in various stores and supermarket nationwide to make sure that their products are not cross-contaminated by ASF.
They let the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company SGS, which is known global benchmark for quality and integrity to inspect their pork products and raw materials and all were found to be 100% negative in African Swine Fever (ASF), and this prompted the Food and Drug Administration gave a letter asking Mekeni to bring back their products in the market after they voluntarily recalled.
Mekeni President, Prudencio “PRUDS” Garcia who was invited by Quezon City Chamber of Commerce Philippines to be one of the guests who asked to share about the admirable decision he made pull outing all the products even if the government did not tell and it would have a financial impact to the company., but the commitment for quality is their priority.
Award winning entrepreneur and broadcast journalist and Radyo Negoisyo Host Dr. Carl Balita who was the moderator of the Plenary Session of the First Quezon City Business Conference about Quality Business asked Mekeni President what led their company to recall their products, and Pruds said it is because of quality and commitment.

Speaking to THEPHILBIZNEWS, the President of Mekeni said that their company believes that QUALITY is their COMMITMENT.
“Yes we may be losing substantial amount of money in our decision to pull out. But this is not about the money, it’s about what we commit to the people, to every Filipino family who buy our products.
