Japan’s Ambassador to the Philippines, Endo Kazuya, joined global and regional leaders at the Trans-Pacific Sustainability Dialogue 2025 held on November 10 at Shangri-La Makati.
The annual event was co-organized by Stanford University’s Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) and the Ban Ki-moon Foundation for a Better Future, bringing together policymakers, academics, and experts to explore strategies advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Among the distinguished attendees were Senator Loren Legarda, DEPDev Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, University of the Philippines President Atty. Angelo Jimenez, UN 8th Secretary-General and Ban Ki-moon Foundation Chairman Ban Ki-moon, and APARC Director Tsutsui Kiyoteru, alongside members of the diplomatic corps and academic community.

In his remarks, Ambassador Endo underscored Japan’s steadfast contribution to the UN SDGs, particularly SDG 11 — building sustainable, inclusive, and resilient cities and communities. He cited Japan’s collaborative initiatives with the Philippines in enhancing public transportation, promoting urban sustainability, and strengthening disaster risk reduction across public and private sectors.
This year’s Dialogue centered on SDG 11, reaffirming regional partnerships and innovative research aimed at fostering sustainable urban development across the Asia-Pacific.
