Embarking on this heartwarming Christmas train trip on a Friday night, 17th of November, Sofitel’s Art De Noël 2023 has showcased a vibrant ride filled with stations starting from officially lighting the Spiral’s 30-feet Christmas tree, fashionably curated cuisine, festive treats, and nostalgia that evoked childhood memories in their beloved guests.
The bedazzling celebration to herald the most wonderful time of the year in the Philippines presented various highlights of the night such as vibrant ambiance, validating its prestigious recognition as the recipient of the Best City Hotel award at the esteemed Travel & Leisure Awards 2023. The seamless intertwines of luxury with elegance and the comforting embrace of the holiday season, create a haven for guests seeking unparalleled indulgence and seasonal enchanting merrymaking.
With its Art de Noëlle aesthetic, the hotel draped in hues of red and decked with ornate decorations, becomes a comfortable sanctuary for guests seeking solace amidst the hustle and bustle.
Hug and Heal: Teddy Bear Sales Support Lives
Within this hotel vicinity, the timeless allure of holidays is felt with an unexpected delight brought by charming cuddly teddy bears on every stopover, influencing a plush companionship of mementos and candid conversations with other guests.
General Manager Olivier Larcher’s remarks, moreover, put a spotlight on the essence of the season—reuniting families, reigniting bonds with loved ones, and embracing the true spirit of the holidays. GM Larcher also emphasized that with every Sofitel bear sold, proceeds will be given to disadvantaged children, youth, and their families through the Virlanie Foundation, a private and non-profit organization, encouraging everyone to buy from the Christmas train.

Where Tradition Meets Today: A Fusion of Festive Joy
The lovely night is graced by esteemed personalities such as the Belgian Ambassador to the Philippines, Amb. Michel Parys, accompanied by his wife Madame Chiemi Mihayisa. Hosted by delightful couple Suzi Entrata and Paolo Abrera, they lively presented Pasay City Mayor Imelda “Emi” Gallardo Calixto-Rubiano and acclaimed Chef Bettina Arguelles, the Director of Culinary Operations, who added to the evening’s charm.
Among others, the ethereal voices of the Virlanie Foundation Choir captivated the hearts of the audience, followed by a soul-stirring Christmas symphony led by Avonlea Paraiso’s mesmerizing harp performance. It was then followed by blissful pop songs from the 1980s — such as Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl and Starship’s We Built This City — which urged the guests to jump, shout, and sway with the rhythm of nostalgia. (PS: It felt like I was given a free ticket to an ’80s concert extravaganza).
In addition, with the culinary wonders inspired by global flavors, the menu is akin to a gastronomic atlas. From seafood feasts, beef and lamb viands, to pasta dishes — all crafted with finesse ingredients — warm the heart and stomach of everyone; while sweet treats like all-time favorite Filipino taho, dainty macarons, iconic ice cream flavors, sugar pop lollipops, and an intricately designed gingerbread house transport passengers into the world of whimsy on every munch.
One of my favorite appetizers was the Hokkaido Scallop (comprising saffron gnocchi, lemon bisque sauce, asparagus, and caviar), which ultimately complimented the taste of Moët & Chandon champagne. Such clinking of wine glasses and champagne flutes offered a toast of shared traditional Christmas elements with contemporary design, sharing a momentous experience with everyone.
