On July 13, 2023, the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) will be hosting the event, “A Year After: Build, Better, More” in Raffles Hotel, Makati City.

Economists have predicted 2023 to be a great year for economic growth. As this month marks President BongBong Marcos Jr.’s first year in office, this upcoming event will assess the economy and how it has changed under his administration. It also will delve into the recent economic achievements of the current administration and the persisting challenges in the Philippine market.

Further, it will assess how President Marcos Jr. continues the momentum of making the Philippines an investment destination.

“This event will focus on further developments in the Philippine economy. Under President Marcos Jr.’s leadership, we had the ratification of RCEP, the renewable energy sector is now open to full foreign ownership, and the UK-PH trade relations had obviously strengthened,” said BCCP Chris Nelson, Executive Director.

The event will also tackle the liberalisation of the Philippine economy, which is one of the British Chamber’s most supported advocacies. Some keynote speakers include Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista, Department of Finance’s (DoF) Undersecretary Ma. Luwalhati Dorotan-Tiuseco, and Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) Assistant Secretary Romeo Matthew Balanquit.

With notable guests, speakers, and representatives from the government, the British Chamber’s event will highlight how President Marcos Jr.’s administration is building a better, more investment-oriented economy. Further, more trade and investment opportunities are expected for the British business community in the country.
