In relation to our news about the Papal Nuncio not allowed to board because the machine cannot read the boarding pass, Cebu Pacific Air through Charo Logarta Lagamon said that they  regret the said incident when His Excellency, Archbishop Gabriele Giordano Caccia  Caccia, the Papal Nuncio of the Vatican to the Philippines, was unable to check-in for his flight to Legaspi.

According to CebuPacific representative who communicated in The Philippine Business and News Facebook Page, “The estimated time of departure of the Manila-Legaspi flight was at 7:30AM and apparently, the archbishop checked-in for the flight at 6:59AM. Furthermore, they also clarified that the standard operating procedure closure for check in passengers for domestic flights is 45 minutes before ETD.”

“The Archbishop was also not checked-in for said flight at all–whether by web or mobile and hence had no boarding pass issued. There was NO PRIOR ADVISE or information provided to the airline that the Papal Nuncio would be taking the flight. Cebu Pacific offered to fly him to the next flight at 110PM but he declined. We will refund his ticket and we are in already in touch with the office of the Papal Nuncio. We hope this clarifies,”  they added.

The Philippine Business and News in our desire to clarify the issue called their Customer Hotline and tried to get in touch with the person in Cebu Pacific Corporate Communications. Sadly they said they don’t handle the issue we raised and even left our contact number.

Despite of the clarification made by the airline, many people who communicated with THEPHILBIZNEWS whio  also come from the airline industry observed that this was a poor customer service knowing that the passenger is a VIP and in the manifest of the said flight.
