Great news as another coveted award in the ICF World Dragon Boat Championships was taken by the Philippine Dragon Boat Team.
The jubilant and proud Philippine Dragon Boat Team at the recently-held ICF World Dragon Boat Championships at Gainesville, Georgia, celebrated their record-setting 5-gold and 2-silver haul at The Perfect Pint, Greenbelt 2, Makati City.
Under the tutelage of the President of the Philippine Canoe Kayak Dragon Boat Federation Jonne Go and Head Coach Len Escollante, with skippers Hermie Macaranas and Pat Bustamante (drummer) the team recounted the hard work, sacrifice and discipline each and every one put into the effort, practicing two to three times a day at Laguna de Bay.
The Team were rewarded with the following:
Champion:
1.)Mixed 22 seaters 500meters distance
2.) Mixed 22 seaters 200meters
3. Mixed 12 seaters 500 meters
4.) Mixed 12 seaters 200 meters
5.) All Mens 12 seaters 200 meters distance
Silver:
1.)All Mens 12 seaters 500 meters distance
2.) Mixed 22 seaters 2KM distance
5 Golds and 2 Silvers in all.
Team Members for Men, Raymart Nevada, Jordan De Guia, Ojay Fuentes, Jonathan Rua, Roger Masbate Manlangit, Lester De Los Santos, John Paul Selencio, Oliver Manaig, Daniel Ortega and Lee Robin Santos.
While the ladies team is composed of Glaiza Liwag, Apple Abituna, Rea Roa, Lealine Baligasa, Sharmaine Mangilit, Maribeth Caranto (steerswoman), Rosaline Esguerra and LA Lustre.
The coaches who indefatigably share their time and guidance are Diomedes Manalo, Christian Abijar, Ryan Vidal, Norwell Cajes and Mark John Prias.
