Czech tech firms connect with PH IT sector

The Czech Embassy in Manila hosted its first Information Technology Conference, dubbed as “Czech Connect 2019: Bridging the Czech and Philippine IT Sector,” in the country last Thursday, September 11, at the Makati Diamond Residences.

With the aim to bridge the link between the two countries, this conference brought five Czech companies, namely  Kentico Software, Y Soft, Avast Software by Kaizen Internetworking, Flowmon Networks, and Adastra Business Consulting to present their products and services  to the Philippine IT sector in response to the growing demand for innovation and connection.

The event was filled with presentations of the companies who discussed the technologies they offer which can aid in better marketing and user engagement, increase smart businesses and employee empowerment through productivity and creativity, general security and network securities, and operative consultancy that assist companies, primarily financial institutions, in their digitization process.

Additionally, it was graced by the Director of ICT Industry Development Bureau of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Ms. Emmy Lou Delfin, who discussed about the plans of the Philippine government in its ICT sector. Further, Mr. Nicki Agcaoili, Executive Director in Investor Relations and External Affairs of the IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) was also present to talk about the current local situation of the sector.

Apart from the presentations, a panel discussion, moderated by Mr. Teddy Sumulong, Managing Director of Computrade Technology, was conducted where the audience had better opportunity to engage with the speakers.

“With the combined efforts of the Czech Republic and the Philippines, I believe, together, we can overcome the barriers, adapt with the new wave of the Industrial Revolution, and adopt the innovations into further enhancing our businesses and economies,” said Ambassador Jana Šediva in her opening remarks.

The Czech Republic is considered as one of the countries in Europe that has a thriving IT sector due to its highly developed infrastructure, advanced technologies, and strong drive to improve the sector. Through the conference, it aims to open the door for better cooperation with the Philippines who also has a booming IT sector and is expected to have a fast-paced growth and development as local and foreign investors enhanced their businesses to create more technological innovations.
