The UK Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) and the British Chamber will host the 3rd Philippine-British Meat Trade Mission Year-end Gathering on 14 November 2024 at the British Ambassador’s Residence. The event aims to reinforce the growing pork and beef trade between the UK and the Philippines that may continuously assist in managing inflation and ensuring food security in the country.
In 2023, the gathering was attended by over 50 attendees including importers, retailers, distributors, officials from the Philippine government, UK Department for Business and Trade and His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils who delivered the opening remarks.
AHDB has been actively engaged in the Philippines through organizing briefings, market visits, and continuous dialogue with relevant government agencies and stakeholders in the meat sector. With the extension of lowered tariffs on pork products, this provides an opportunity to create and further strengthen partnerships among Philippine pork importers. This remains evident on the current figures on pork trade, marking a 24% increase amounting to a value of over £21.8 million from January-July 2024.
Similarly, with the recent lifting of the temporary ban on beef, this serves as another opportunity for beef importers to take advantage of the quality of British meat, globally renowned for its premium standards—noting a value of over £2 million in the same period.
The year-end gathering further underscores the commitment of the UK AHDB to enhance meat trade relations with the Philippines and provide consumers with access to high-quality British meat products. This event is open to interested stakeholders in the pork and beef sector, to offer a unique opportunity for Philippine importers, distributors, retailers, and industry professionals to explore new business opportunities and connect with the wider network of British exporters.
