Ambassador ENDO Kazuya paid a courtesy call to Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John Uy on April 199, 2024, and exchanged views on Japan-Philippines economic relations in the field of information and communications technology (ICT).

During the meeting, Ambassador Endo expressed Japan’s continuous support for the Philippine government’s ICT endeavors in such as Open RAN, cybersecurity, digital terrestrial broadcasting, and ensuring basic telecommunications access among others. Likewise, Secretary Uy expressed his hope to continue strengthening various forms of cooperation in digital field, including expectations for Japanese companies’ investment.

Both Ambassador Endo and Secretary Uy agreed to work closely together to explore the vast potential of ICT and strengthen economic ties between Japan and the Philippines through partnerships in ICT.
