Marvel to introduce the First Filipino superhero, WAVE
In celebration of the International Women’s Day, Marvel announced the arrival of a new comic book superhero — a Filipina named Wave last March 8.
The comic book writer and filmmaker, Greg Pak, introduced Wave through his Twitter.
The character Wave which was designed and co-created by Filipino comic book artist Leinil Francis Yu will be introduced in the “War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #1,” the first of four “War of the Realms” issues to be released in May.
As per Marvel’s account, they said that Wave is “a mysterious new Filipino heroine” in which all Filipinos can identified with her because of her “morena” skin, adorned by green and gold costume and weapons.
In the Twitter of Pak, he also shared that Wave will save the world together with new heroes from China, Aero and Sword Master. Pak thanked everyone for the “overwhelming response” to Wave which is “Marvel’s new and first Filipina superhero.”
