BritCham reveals growth in business collaboration between UK and Phl

Collaboration and interest from the UK Professional Business Services seen growing as Philippines pursue economic reforms designed to liberalise the economy and ease foreign ownership restrictions on selected local sectors. 

Chris Nelson, Executive Director and Trustee of the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines hosted the recent webinar titled Boosting the Philippine Business Services Sector: Driving Growth and Collaboration for Success. Among the topics discussed include the outlook of the Philippine Business Services Industry, UK – Philippines export potential and the top sectors for UK export growth in services. 

Susana Córdoba, Head of International Trade of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce recognised the Philippines has a growing population which resulted in an increased demand in healthcare services. “There is a need in the Philippines to hire and train workforce,  use digital technologies and provide accurate clinical diagnostics and treatment for illness,” Córdoba said. 

Similarly, Charisse Siao, Partner of Deloitte Philippines emphasised that upskilling of workforce in tech-related skills would be crucial in influencing the Philippines’ business services sector to allow the industry to further adapt with advancement in technology. 

During the webinar, spotlight was on the Philippines openness to additional foreign direct investments which are expected to drive the country’s growth and recovery from the pandemic. The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines will continue to organise timely and relevant discussions to inform and promote the Philippines to the United Kingdom.
