President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Monday swore in former Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Eduardo Oban Jr., who assumed office as National Security Adviser following Secretary Eduardo Año’s decision to retire from public service.
Oban’s assumption as national security adviser reinforces the administration’s commitment to strengthen national security, defense planning, and inter-agency coordination to attain a free, peaceful, and resilient Philippines.
As security adviser, Oban will be responsible for national security priorities and ensuring continuity in the government’s efforts to keep the nation safe and secure.
Oban, a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1979, has extensive experience in military operations, defense planning, and national security.
He previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans (J5) and as head of the Visiting Forces Agreement Commission.
