Indonesian Energy company eyes strategic partnership with PH energy sector worth $1B project

PT Pertamina (Persero), the largest state-owned enterprise (SOE) in terms of generating revenue and second-largest crude oil producer in Indonesia, met with representatives of the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) recent (January 29, 2019) at the BOI Penthouse in Makati City to discuss possible business opportunities for an integrated energy company in the Philippines.

Shortly after a courtesy call on Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon M. Lopez, PT Pertamina (Persero) officials attended an investments briefing facilitated by BOI International Investments Promotion Service (IIPS). In the briefing, BOI discussed the present situation of the Philippine energy sector in terms of policy and potential of local players, as well as the investment landscape of the country.

“The Philippines is very much open for LNG investors. We will assist and work with them in looking for trusted partners until they begin their operations,” said Secretary Lopez.

The briefing with BOI is first of the company’s series of meetings with other Philippine government agencies, and select local companies to offer investment solutions to develop Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in the country through a regasification hub project worth an estimated USD$ 1 billion, among others.
