The British Chamber is hosting a three-day in-person Philippine-British Meat Trade Mission next month, with the aim of exploring business and market opportunities that exist for UK meat exporters.

“British, beef and pork industry is well renowned for its sustainable practices. It’s very high quality and we’ve seen a significant growth in UK pork exports to the Philippines.” Chris Nelson BCCP Executive Director and Trustee said on Monday.

Nelson also noted that the arrival of imported pork will help the goal of the government to prevent pork prices from spiking further the inflation rate.

In a recent report, the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) published that meat import arrivals from January to February this year reached 162.1 million kilos, higher than last year’s 111.3 million kilos. Particularly, pork imports from the UK in January to February of 2022 alone reached 3.6 million kilos already.

He also revealed eight (8) British exporters are coming and will attract large Philippine meat importers and buyers to participate in the upcoming Mission.

“We’re pleased to say that in partnership with the UK’s Agricultural Horticultural Development Board (AHDB) we’re bringing out eight (8) companies and they’re coming here from the 17th to the 19th of May.” Nelson said.

The Mission will include the following highlights: (1) Market Briefing delivered by key government officials, (2) Business-to-Business Matching, (3) Cooking Demonstrations and Gin Bartending Sessions and (4) Market Visits.
