There is no word to express our utmost sympathy to the Sy family for the passing away of Jan Catherine Sy, a lovely and beautiful young lady at age 29, in the prime of her life, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Big Boy) Sy, Jr.
I have a cousin on the side of my mother, Rosa Lim, a widow of Mr. Paul Chang who is rather close to the Sy family whose birthday was once celebrated with the entire Sy family for she had been working for them as Treasury Manager of SM Megamall, for Treasury procedure. Her late husband was a close friend of Mr. Henry Sy, Sr.
Many years ago, the entire Sy family gave a birthday party for Rosa when the patriarch Henry Sy was still alive. It was a very simple dinner, no fanfare. A very intimate gathering. Since I’ve always been close to my cousin, Rosa, I had the privilege of being with them in that occasion.
I only wish to express my family’s utmost condolences, foremost to Big Boy (Henry Sy, Jr.), and his wife who I believe was the daughter or granddaughter of renowned eye specialist doctor, Dr. Tamesis, who was my late father’s eye doctor-specialist. If I recall correctly, Dr. Tamesis, the patriarch of the family, was President Quezon’s eye doctor as well.
As a tightly knit-family, I also wish to extend my sympathies to the grandmother, Doña Felicidad Sy and to the entire Sy family as well and to all the staff who all remain faithful to the Sy family for they are all grieving as well for the loss of the daughter of their beloved boss, Henry Sy, Jr. and family.
Let us pray for the repose of Jan Catherine’s soul, as we pray for all those who also prematurely lost their loved ones, cut short by a virus that only God knows who are the culprits who brought about the pandemic, worldwide.
There must be an explanation why and how this Coronavirus was brought about never experienced by mankind before. It is so vicious and unforgiving.
Please keep safe. With prayers, God will spare us all.
