Austria is currently finalizing a “workation” program that will allow young Filipinos aged 18 to 30 to stay in the country for a period of time, Austrian Ambassador to the Philippines Dr. Johann Brieger announced during THEPHILBIZNEWS Embassy Night Year 3 at Hotel Okura Manila recently.

Promoting cultural understanding and providing valuable skills and experiences to participants, the program will combine vacations with temporary employment and educational opportunities for young Filipinos in Austria.

Ambassador Brieger made the announcement before the audience that included members of the Diplomatic Corps, various chambers of commerce, and the Philippine and international business community.

“This exchange will strengthen the people-to-people dimension of the partnership between Austria and the Philippines, increase the longstanding mutual understanding between Austrian and Filipino citizens, reinforce the links between our nations, and help young people in both countries gain valuable skills and experience,” the ambassador said.

“We are hopeful that the ongoing talks would come to fruition in the near future and all of you would be hearing more about it in due course through THEPHILBIZNEWS as well,” he added.

Ambassador Brieger also announced the arrival of a business delegation from Austria this May for the Joint Economic Working Group with the Philippine government.

“I am happy to report that trade numbers are on an upward trajectory. Following the successful signing of a Memorandum of Understanding last year on the Recruitment of Skilled Workers between the Philippines and Austria, we will welcome a business delegation mid-May to not only move the implementation of this MoU to the next level but also have our Joint Economic Working Group meet to explore other areas for future cooperation,” he said.

Ambassador Brieger also commended THEPHILBIZNEWS for its dedication to promoting press freedom, combatting disinformation, and delivering accurate and timely news coverage. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between media organizations and diplomatic missions in advancing shared goals and addressing global challenges.

“In this digital age where trust in media is often questioned, THEPHILBIZNEWS shines brilliantly as an example of credibility and reliability. Your dedication to providing accurate, insightful, and timely news coverage is commendable and greatly appreciated,” he said.
