With the approval of the extension of lowered tarrifs for meat and other products like rice and corn, which was duly signed by President Bong Bong Marcos Jr. last December 29, 2022, the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines lauded the Executive Order.

With its continued promotion of further opening up the Philippine economy, the organisation has been actively involved in lobbying for the extension of the lowered tariff rates for pork imports, along with British Embassy in Manila and other foreign advocacy groups.

Last May and December 2022, the British Chamber hosted British Meat Trade Mission events with Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) that successfully led B2B meetings with UK meat exporters to local importers.

“From the perspective of British exporters, now’s the time to capitalize on this opportunity. And I’m really excited that there’s more and more interest in the UK to promote British goods and services in the Philippines,” said British Ambassador Laure Beaufils during the second UK-PH Meat Trade Mission at One World Butchers, Makati City.

Thus, the Chamber welcomes the publication of the Executive Order on lowered tariff rates, specifically for pork.
