On the 30th of May 2022, British Chamber of Commerce Philippines Executive Director and Trustee, Chris Nelson met with Ambassador Lagdameo and discussed the recently concluded Philippine-British Meat Trade Mission.

The Mission allowed the top UK meat exporters to explore opportunities to increase exports and strengthen their long-term partnerships with their Philippine counterparts.

The Mission also highlighted the need to extend Executive Order No, 134 lowering pork tariffs from the 30 percent in-quota and 40 percent out-quota rates.

Subsequently, President Duterte signed Executive Order No. 171 last 21st May 2022 in the opes to further stabilize the pork industry post-pandemic.

The successful outcome of the Philippine-British Meat Trade Mission served as one of the factors in pushing for the extension to lower pork tariffs. The British Chamber recognises the efforts exerted by the outgoing administration before their end-term as well as the Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc. (PAMPI) for working hard to ensure the extension of lowering pork tariffs in the country.
