British Chamber of Commerce Philippines Executive Chairman sees that the vaccination program of the Philippines will be the key to bring in foreign investors.
Speaking to THEPHILBIZNEWS, Chris Nelson revealed that the growing interest of British companies to doing business in the Philippines remain strong since the British Chamber of Commerce incessantly promoting the Philippines to various investors and companies in the UK amid pandemic Nelson continues to promote the Philippines as an investment hub in Asia even in virtual roadshows.
When asked if the British investors’ interest in the Philippines has waned, the Executive Chairman of British Chamber said, “They are always keen. But the government should step up on working on the concerns of many foreign investors that become a stumbling block to doing business here.
“President Duterte has signed the CREATE bill and this is a welcome development. But we need also to address the Retail Trade Liberalization Act (RTLA) and Public Services Act. The moment they do, this will certainly spur many investors not just from the UK but also from other countries,” Nelson explained.
“The country has big potential despite challenges. But we have to see some serious and concrete efforts about the vaccination and other concerns on health. We hope that President Duterte and the lawmakers will continue to deal with the economic challenges that the Philippines are facing now,” he added.
“When all of these are rolled out, we can see the significant interest of many other foreign investors. As for the British companies, they will continue to wait and see for the development that will take place. For the British Chamber of Commerce, we will continue to work with the government and other sectors, and fellow foreign chambers in Europe as we have been doing through the years. We have embraced the spirit of ‘Bayanihan’ that inspires us to support the Philippines and the Filipino people,” Nelson concluded.
