Vows to protect Pinoy entrepreneurs

Given the prevalence of fake items and scammers to lure online buyers and sellers, the country’s newest but most innovative e-commerce company VeMoBro vows to protect Pinoy online sellers against bogus items and transactions.
In the statement sent to THEPPHILBIZNEWS, VeMoBro reiterated their commitment to their members.
“There are many fake products and scammers online, we at VeMoBro supports the initiatives of the government to thwart the online predators led by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), and the House of Representatives,” VeMoBro Co-Founder and COO Rain Ibajo.said.
“Our goal as a 100% Filipino e-commerce platform is to protect online Pinoy sellers who are making an honest living on the internet. With e-commerce and online transactions booming amid the pandemic, we’ve seen a lot of fake products and scams that are damaging the trust between online merchants and consumers,” the Co-founder of the start-up e-commerce company in the Philippines.
She added, “We have to protect what’s authentic, especially if it’s Filipino-made. Our local enterprises that are making high-quality products and employing fellow Filipinos need our support more than ever.”
To advance its goal, VeMoBro has employed fail-safe measures to protect consumers and sellers on its platform.
“Sellers go through a multi-step process so we can make sure they are formally registered with the right government agencies and have the necessary permits. We are also meticulous with products being posted on our website because we understand how important it is to protect intellectual property,” shared Ibajo.
Ibajo added that VeMoBro’s efforts are in support of DTI and the national patent office’s crackdown on brand counterfeits and scams online as well as Congress’ efforts to strengthen consumer protection in e-commerce.
On November 24, 2020, the House of Representatives approved the proposed House Bill No. 7805 or the Internet Transactions Act which establishes an Electronic Commerce Bureau designed to oversee the regulation of e-commerce transactions in the country.
Under the proposed law, the e-commerce bureau will create a code of conduct for entities with e-commerce operations that will articulate the responsibilities of online merchants. The bureau will also establish an online dispute platform for consumers and online sellers, among other measures.
“We are one with the government in protecting the right of consumers to purchase legitimate products as well as the right of merchants to compete fairly with other merchants on price and quality. As a homegrown company, we only have the best interests of Filipinos in mind,” Ibajo shared.
