To avoid confusion, the Department of Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez clarified what is covered by the lockdown in the midst of the government’s effort to prevent the spreading of COVID-19 throughout the country.

In the text message to THEPHILBIZNEWS, the Trade Chief said, “Stores, restaurants, malls, factories, offices, and banks are open. However, they are just on flexible working arrangements.”

“For the cargoes carrying both food and non-food, they are allowed to move (to transport, deliver or pick-up),” Secretary Lopez added.

“The workers can also move in and out as long as they can show their ID. However, the government really encourages in staying in Metro Manila for one month, meaning less movement and this would prevent (the COVID-19) from spreading. But international travels are allowed but the requirements to be developed by the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) and stated in the IRR (Implementing Rules and Regulations).
