As the havoc created by Taal eruption continues and destroyed businesses in Tagaytay and Batangas area, Department of Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez assured affected micro and small businesses that the government thru DTI will provide support for them.

The Trade Chief disclosed that the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) aims to provide microfinancing facilities under the Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso, or P3 Program of the Duterte administration.

Speaking to THEPHILBIZNEWS, Secretary Lopez said, “We understand their predicament, and they can be assured that the government will help them start all over again in their business. There is hope and we are here to give hope and support.”

“This is our top priority, for the micro and small entrepreneurs to go back and start their business again. By next week, we can disclose how this will be implemented so that the sooner for them to be given assistance, the faster for them to recover.”

This is so entrepreneurs would not worry about the expiration and logistics of goods for their businesses, Lopez said.

“Tonight, we are fixing the guidelines. Next week, we should be ready with that. But we want to make sure that those micro and small enterprises who would avail of the support in the affected of the Taal eruption are truly qualified and are legitimate entrepreneurs,” Secretary Lopez added.
