BritCham Philippines Executive Chairman Chris Nelson proudly shares the positive result of the Britain in Southeast Asia (BiSEA) Roadshow in the United Kingdom that was held from April 8-16, 2019 wherein the delegates of British Chambers in the ASEAN had visited Birmingham, London, Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow, Sheffield and Durham and got the chance to meet various companies that are looking for opportunities in the South East Asia and of course the Philippines.
Mr. Nelson told to THEPHILBIZNEWS that he was able to meet 85 companies from various industries in the Retail, Food and Drink, Energy, Education and Training, Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals, Communications, Software and Computer Services, Construction, Agriculture, Security, Water, Electronics and IT Hardware, Engineering, Oil and Gas, Household Goods and furnitures and Automotive sectors.
When asked if these potential investors in the UK are asking for tax holiday as a major consideration for them to invest in the Philippines, Mr. Nelson said nobody among the 85 companies he met ever asked about it as all of them are concentrating on the business potential they are exploring in the Philippines and other countries in the region.
“What is important here is that they remain positive and keen to explore business opportunities outside Europe, and in my humble opinion, the Philippines has competitive edge over other Southeast Asian countries given the excellent communication skills in the English language and not to mention the fact that Filipinos are very hard working people”, the BCCP Chairman concluded.
