Capitalizing on the 129 Million mobile subscriptions in the country that dubbed Philippines as the Social Media Capital of the World, both Duty Free Philippines and SpeedRegalo built a strategic alliance in order to serve better and faster not only the Filipino compatriots coming home, but also the foreign tourists flocking in to the country.

In a memorandum of agreement (MOA) witnessed by the media, Duty Free Philippines gladly announced its partnership with their SpeedRegalo that has proven track record as the most reliable and innovative online shopping site in the Philippines.

With this partnership, OFWs, Balikbayans and even tourists who would like to buy duty free items can do the shopping way ahead before their arrival and expect a hassle-free shopping that they can pay online using credit card or debit card and then just pick up at the Duty Free shops upon arrival at the airport. This doesn’t only save time, but also helps the shoppers to choose what they want to buy without going through the long queue and if they are working on a budget, they would be able to manage their shopping spree money.

In the media briefing, SpeedRegalo General Manager JC Medina explained that this online shopping would provide opportunity for those who are coming to the Philippines to maximize their time considering that this is just the first phase of the Duty Free Online Shopping. Eventually, the online shopping of Duty Free will then prepare for door to door delivery. Meaning, one can immediately go home to their family, save gas and time by just choosing what they want online and voila, the chosen items will be delivered right at their doorstep. So more quality time with the family and less hassle than going to the Duty Free Shops right aways especially for those who have shorter vacation days available.

According to Dino Belmonte, Deputy General Manager for Operations of Duty Free Philippines, while this is an online system that is intended to make it easier for the arriving travellers from abroad who are entitled to shop within 48 hours,  the online shopping would still have the same requirement that they cannot just buy Duty Free products without having traveled abroad.

The Deputy General Manager of DFP said, that there is no need to verify the identity of the online shoppers since they need to present themselves to the Customs officer at the store.

Meanwhile, Vicente “VICO” Angala Duty Free Philippines Chief Operating Officer, said that down the road, they are already preparing for the delivery service.

In the interview with THEPHILBIZNEWS, the Duty Free Philippines COO said that they would really like to make sure that before embarking on the delivery service which is very helpful and would be very convenient to the OFWS, Balikbayans and even tourists buying pasalubong, all systems are in placed because we are here to provide service to them. Not just service but quality service that they all deserve to receive.

Angala also explained that to facilitate faster and better transaction, various payment modes are going to be considered not just limited to credit cards or debit cards, but also other available payment platforms that are efficient and secured such as PayPal, and mobile payment providers AliPay and WeChat and many more.

In closing, the Deputy General Manager for Operations of Duty Free Philippines intimated to the media that while there were some suppliers who expressed their intention to provide backbone support on the e-commerce service of Duty Free Philippines,  the SpeedRegalo provided the “best in terms of financial offer” and the “best model on how to execute their e-commerce service based on the track record of SpeedRegalo.

For his part, DFP COO Angala said, “We encourage our OFWs and Balikbayans to support our Duty Free Outlets. More than selling imported products, the DFP in partnership with Department of Trade and Industries have been very helpful in promoting products from our micro, small and medium enterprises.”

Just last month, the Duty Free Philippines showcased our country’s best and finest chocolates which according to Angala is now globally competitive not just on the quality of products but also on the packaging.

The DFP has been very supportive of our OFWs. More than what they buy for pasalubong for their family, the Duty Free Philippines has also been offering “Kabuhayan Package” for our returning OFWs and Balikbayan.
