Still uncertain on the result of his petition filed with the Supreme Court to stop President Rodrigo Duterte’s voiding his amnesty, the embattled Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has been slapped with separate libel cases from the President’s eldest son Paolo and son-in-law Manases Carpio.

Paolo Duterte is accusing Trillanes of maligning him and his family during an interview with Leo Lastimosa of local radio station dyAB Cebu on Sept. 8, 2017. He was then the former vice mayor of DavaoCity. Meanwhile, Carpio, husband of this city’s Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, also filed a civil case for damages against Trillanes before a regional trial court in this city.

In his complaint filed Thursday in a local court in Davao, Paolo Duterte said that the Senator slandered him and his family by accusing him of corruption and extortion involving Uber and other companies regulated by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, Road Board and Department of Public Works and Highways.

Incidentally, the libel suit follows of President Duterte’s voiding of the amnesty granted by then President Benigno Aquino III to Trillanes and cohorts, who faced court-martial for participating in a mutiny and coup attempt against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

For Duterte’s son-in-law, Carpio, who is a lawyer said, Trillanes’ interview “was and is intended to malign, destroy and kill my good name and reputation” knowing that my wife is the President’s daughter. While Paolo said he was shocked at Trillanes’ accusations.

THEPHILBIZNEWS tries to get the reaction of Senator Trillanes’ reaction on the case filed against him by Paolo Duterte and his brother-in-law Manases Carpio, but we have not received any reaction yet as of this writing.
