The Philippines is hosting the first-ever Southeast Asian Congress of Hispanists, bringing together scholars and experts from across the region, Europe, and the United States to celebrate Spanish language, literature, and culture.

Held from March 26 to 27 at Instituto Cervantes in Intramuros, the congress features lectures, panels, and roundtables, including a focus on Spanish-Philippine Literature between 1880 and 1920. Participants will discuss the role of Hispanic studies in Asia, the state of Hispanism in Southeast Asia, and emerging voices in the field.

Organized by the Embassy of Spain, Instituto Cervantes, Academia Filipina de la Lengua Española, and Fundación Duques de Soria, the event marks a milestone in academic and cultural exchange in PH.
