The Philippines is stepping up efforts to lower logistics costs and strengthen supply chains nationwide as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) forges a deeper partnership with 2GO Group, Inc., positioning the company as a key logistics backbone for businesses across the country’s 7,600-plus islands.

Trade Secretary Cristina A. Roque said the expanded collaboration reflects the government’s push to support enterprises of all sizes—from large and extra-large firms that require bulk movement capabilities to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that struggle with high transport costs and limited market access.

“This partnership ensures that products move seamlessly from Point A to Point B,” Roque said in an interview following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between DTI and 2GO. “In an archipelagic country, logistics providers play a critical role in bridging the gap from Region I to Region XVIII.”

The MOU, signed at 2GO’s headquarters, formally integrates the company into DTI’s official “go-to” logistics network under the Supply Chain and Logistics Center (SCLC). The move is expected to enhance SCLC services by addressing persistent challenges faced by MSMEs, including unreliable service providers, fragmented supply chains, and high distribution costs.

The ceremonial signing was led by Secretary Roque and attended by 2GO President and CEO Frederic DyBuncio, along with Chief Operating and Financial Officer William Howell.

“Access is the key word here,” Roque emphasized. “Through the SCLC, we’re giving MSMEs a clearer lens to see the market.” She added that the initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to accelerate MSME growth nationwide. “DTI builds the platform, opens the doors, and empowers businesses to choose their path.”

Under the agreement, 2GO will participate in DTI-led business-matching activities, market linkage programs, and Logistics Support Desks at Negosyo Centers across the country. These desks are designed to provide hands-on assistance to entrepreneurs seeking to optimize their distribution strategies and reach wider markets.

DTI, for its part, will facilitate coordination and provide access to the SCLC platform to ensure seamless public-private collaboration.

The MOU builds on a Pledge of Commitment signed in June 2025, formalizing 2GO’s role not only in routine logistics operations but also in crisis and disaster response—helping ensure the uninterrupted flow of goods during calamities.

As a flagship initiative of the DTI Supply Chain and Logistics Group, the SCLC provides logistics data, advisory services, and strategic linkages aimed at strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of the Philippine supply chain.
