Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced another reduction in electricity rates this January, marking the second consecutive month of lower power charges.
Meralco said overall rates will decline by ₱0.1637 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), bringing the typical household electricity rate down to ₱12.9508 per kWh from ₱13.1145 per kWh in December.
“For the second straight month, overall electricity rates declined. We hope that this development will bring relief to all our customers as we start another year,” said Joe R. Zaldarriaga, Meralco vice president and head of corporate communications.
He added that residential customers consuming an average of 200 kWh per month can expect their total electricity bill to go down by around ₱33 this January.
