The long-awaited interoperability of expressways operated by SMC Infrastructure and Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) across Luzon is now officially complete. The milestone was marked by the launch of the One RFID program in Calamba, Laguna, on Tuesday, in ceremonies led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Both companies jointly announced that the integration of their electronic toll collection systems—Autosweep and Easytrip—has been successfully completed, allowing motorists with new ETC accounts to use only one RFID and account to travel seamlessly across all Luzon expressways.
The One RFID program covers the entire network, including the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Connector, Skyway System, NAIA Expressway, Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX), Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), and STAR Tollway.

Registration for the One RFID program is optional, and motorists with existing Autosweep and Easytrip RFIDs may choose to join the unified system or continue maintaining separate accounts. The project was initiated by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) to improve the efficiency and connectivity of the country’s toll road network.
SMC Infrastructure and MPTC worked closely with government agencies for several years, undertaking major system upgrades and extensive testing to ensure smooth and secure interoperability. The companies noted that the road to full interoperability was challenging but rewarding, requiring close collaboration among stakeholders and significant investment in technology integration.
With interoperability achieved, the expressway operators will now focus on expanding registration access, improving system reliability, and enhancing the travel experience for motorists across Luzon.
Both firms expressed their appreciation to DOTr Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez and TRB Executive Director Jose Arturo M. Tugade for their leadership and support in completing the project.
The One RFID program marks a major milestone toward a unified, cashless expressway system in Luzon—simplifying travel, reducing congestion, and setting the stage for a more efficient and motorist-friendly expressway experience in the Philippines.
