SAIC Motor, the parent company of MG’s official distributor in the Philippines, has announced impressive global sales for the first half of 2025—good news for Filipino motorists eyeing future-ready vehicles.
From January to June this year, SAIC Motor sold a total of 2.053 million vehicles worldwide, a 12.4% increase from the same period last year. In June alone, it sold 365,000 units, marking a 21.6% year-on-year jump and extending its streak of monthly growth to six consecutive months.
“This growth is driven by our focus on innovation and reform,” the company said in a news release, citing its “new three-driving-force” strategy: self-owned brands, new energy vehicles (NEVs), and overseas operations.

SAIC’s self-owned brands, including MG, contributed 1.304 million units, a 21.1% increase that now makes up over 63% of SAIC’s total sales.
Its New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), which include hybrids and EVs, also saw a major boost, with 646,000 units sold—a 40.2% increase year-on-year. In June alone, NEV sales reached 121,000 units, reflecting growing global demand for more sustainable mobility.
The premium EV lineup under IM Motors delivered over 6,000 units in June, while SAIC-GM-Wuling, Maxus, and the passenger car division also posted strong NEV sales, some up by over 40%.
This global performance is being mirrored locally by MG Philippines, which sold 4,632 units from January to June 2025—a 17.9% year-on-year growth, far outpacing the local industry’s 2.3% growth rate. MG’s market share rose from 1.7% to 2.0%, signaling growing confidence in the brand among Filipino car buyers.
MG Philippines continues to expand its range of New Energy Vehicles, offering models like the MG3 Hybrid+, MG4, MG Marvel R, MG Mifa 9, MG Cyberster, and the newly launched MG ZS Hybrid+.
These vehicles reflect MG’s growing focus on electrified and sustainable mobility—matching the evolving preferences of today’s Filipino drivers who are looking for innovation, style, and long-term value.
