A total of 192 Fil-Chi youth and teachers departed on June 16 to join the second batch of the 2025 Overseas Compatriot Youth Mandarin Language Study Program – Philippines Special Class, organized by Taiwan’s Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) and coordinated by the Overseas Chinese Association Philippines.

Students listen attentively during the briefing session as they prepare for their four-week study tour in Taiwan.

Participants will spend four weeks in Taiwan attending Mandarin classes and taking part in cultural activities and site visits. The first batch of 128 students left on June 6, bringing the total number of Filipino participants this year to 320.

A pre-departure orientation and flag presentation ceremony was held on June 14 at the Culture Center of T.E.C.O. in the Philippines, drawing over 140 students and parents.

A representative from the Culture Center provides detailed guidance on the upcoming language and cultural program, helping students prepare for their Taiwan experience.

Guests at the ceremony included Overseas Chinese Association Philippines President Peter Fong, OCAC Senior Adviser King-Hua Chua, and Culture Center Director Eric Po-Chih Chuang, who encouraged students to make the most of the experience to deepen their understanding of Taiwan, improve their Mandarin skills, and develop independence.

The program includes visits to the National Palace Museum, Taiwanese schools, and cultural landmarks. Organizers hope the experience will inspire participants to consider further studies in Taiwan.
