Young Filipinos dreaming of doing academic research in Japan now have more time to apply for one of the world’s most prestigious international scholarship programs.
In an announcement, the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines has announced the extension of the application deadline for the 2026 Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship – Research Category until Friday, May 30.
Administered by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the scholarship offers aspiring researchers and graduate students the chance to pursue studies in Japanese universities while immersing themselves in the country’s cutting-edge innovation, world-class academic institutions, and rich culture.
The MEXT Research Scholarship is open to Filipino citizens who wish to conduct research or pursue a master’s or doctoral degree in Japan for fields of study that include the sciences.
