Meralco Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer Maria Luisa V. Alvendia has been recognized as one of the pioneering women executives who are revolutionizing global supply chains through innovation in procurement and logistics.

With more than 30 years of industry experience, Alvendia was the sole Filipino woman executive to be included in the Top 100 Women 2025 List of Supply Chain Digital—a digital hub that connects supply chain and logistics executives around the world.

The list honors women executives from different countries and industries such as utilities, manufacturing, hospitality and tourism, telecommunications, and consumer goods who build ecosystems that redefine traditional supply chain models.

Alvendia was recognized for her outstanding leadership across procurement and supply chain organizations, where she has consistently delivered transformative results.

“As CSCO of the Philippines’ largest electric distribution utility, she expertly manages procurement transformation to embrace global practices whilst steering the company towards a sustainable supply chain future,” Supply Chain Digital noted.

Under Alvendia’s leadership, the company embedded sustainability in the entire value chain through the adoption of a Meralco Supplier Sustainability Scorecard (MS3) – a tool that assesses suppliers and contractors on key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria that uses United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and Global Reporting Initiative Standards as guiding principles. During the 2024 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards, MS3was recognized with a Gold Stevie under the “Building Sustainable Supply Chains” category.

For her, the recognition was a testament to the impact and value of supply chain management in an organization, as reflected in Meralco, where it has been a key contributor of operational success.

“With technology and sustainability rapidly transforming supply chain management, it is imperative for us to adopt and embrace these developments for a more resilient, efficient, and responsible organization. Though there will be challenges in navigating complexities, we can integrate these through a consistent and steady approach,” Alvendia said.

Beyond driving sustainability in the supply chain, Alvendia’s unwavering commitment to excellence have driven transformative procurement practices and meaningful supplier engagements with suppliers, all while upholding the highest standards aligned with Meralco’s core values.
