As it continues to rebuild and transform infrastructure ravaged by the ongoing conflict with Russia, Ukraine joins 58 other countries at the 12th Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE), taking place from March 18 to 21, 2025, at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.

The event has attracted 2,806 international visitors, highlighting the global momentum toward smart city solutions, according to organizers.

The massive interest, particularly from top participants such as Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, and Hungary, reflects a growing worldwide commitment to fostering international collaboration and leveraging innovative technologies for urban transformation.

This summit offers Ukraine a unique opportunity to explore the role of smart technology in its rebuilding process and connect with global partners to accelerate its recovery.

Among the notable participants, over ten Ukrainian city leaders are attending the exhibition to explore opportunities for collaboration with Taiwanese companies, especially in areas like smart transportation, energy efficiency, and digital governance.

Special events such as the “Ukraine Recovery and Reconstruction Business Opportunities Forum” will showcase how smart technologies can contribute to Ukraine’s rebuilding efforts, facilitating the exchange of ideas and resources between Taiwan and Ukraine.

Taiwan, a global leader in smart city innovation, has designed the summit to emphasize digital and green transformation. The event focuses on AI applications, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable technologies with a focus on sustainability and resilience. Taiwanese companies, including Acer Group, ASUS, Chunghwa Telecom, and Foxconn, will present AI-powered solutions to help accelerate digital transformation and smart city development.

The SCSE also introduces the “Smart City Global Co-Creation Pavilion,” which encourages Taiwanese enterprises to partner with domestic and international organizations to integrate smart city solutions that can be applied globally.

At the summit, Taiwan focuses on its own energy transition, featuring innovations such as Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) and smart transportation solutions. The event will serve as a platform for sharing knowledge on sustainable energy, AI in public governance, and net-zero initiatives.
