Taiheiyo Cement Philippines Inc. (TCPI) is doubling its cement production from 50,000 to 100,000 bags per day in its ₱12.8 billion, state-of-the-art facility in Cebu to address the rising demand for infrastructure in the Philippines, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said in a news release.

Taiheiyo, with a strong presence in Cebu since 2000, is also constructing a distribution terminal in Calaca, Batangas, to serve the Luzon market, which accounts for 64% of the country’s current demand. This facility will improve logistics and supply chain efficiency, ensuring timely cement delivery.

During a March 3 meeting with DTI Secretary Cristina Roque in Japan, TCPI reaffirmed its commitment to the Philippine market, including plans to strengthen domestic production and distribution networks.

Secretary Roque noted the Philippines’ growth potential in the cement sector, driven by a supportive regulatory environment, strategic Southeast Asian location, rapid urbanization, and a skilled labor force.

She said the government’s vision is to foster global industry leaders like Taiheiyo to drive innovation and contribute to sustainable development.

Special Trade Representative Dita Angara Mathay of the DTI-Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Tokyo praised TCPI for its global leadership in cement production and its role in the country’s modernization.

The DTI said it continues to enforce strict quality control and fair trade practices to maintain a competitive and sustainable cement industry.

Secretary Roque said TCPI’s investments will reinforce the Philippines’ infrastructure and industrial sector, creating quality jobs and boosting the country’s regional influence.
