Ambassador Kazuya Endo attended the event on March 7, 2025, on Stratbase ADR Institute for Strategic and International Studies and the Japan Foundation Manila, “Navigating Shifting Tides: Security Challenges and Strategic Opportunities for the Philippines, Japan, and the US in the New Trump Administration” at Makati Golf and Country Club, Makati City.

The event brought together Stratbase ADR Institute President Prof. Victor “Dindo” Manhit, Stratbase ADR Institute Trustee and Program Convenor Prof. Renato de Castro, Nikkei Inc. Commentator and Columnist Mr. Hiroyuki Akita, Japan Foundation Manila Director Mr. Ben Suzuki, and other distinguished experts who delved into security challenges and opportunities, focusing on geopolitical, economic, and defense-related issues.

The comprehensive discussions of the event aimed to enhance understanding of security policies and develop practical strategies for bolstering both trilateral and multilateral security cooperation. The key topics included the strategic importance of maintaining freedom of navigation, securing trade routes, and addressing non-traditional security threats such as cyberattacks, transnational crime, and climate challenges.

During his remarks, Ambassador Endo highlighted the Golden Age of Japan-Philippine relations. He noted the significance of strengthening partnerships in light of evolving geopolitical dynamics. He expressed that, “Indeed, it is when our countries’ efforts converge that we are at our most prosperous. I believe our sound partnerships speak to the strength of our shared convictions for a safe and free Indo-Pacific region.”

The insights and strategies discussed at the event underscore the shared commitment to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region through a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
