MSpectrum, Inc., a wholly owned solar subsidiary of the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco), has sealed a partnership with Meycauayan College for a 300 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar photovoltaic rooftop to be installed at the school building in Bulacan.

Targeted for completion in the third quarter of 2025, the project is expected to generate approximately 414,400 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy every year. This will allow Meycauayan College to reduce 292.48 metric tons in carbon footprint—equivalent to 13,000 trees planted and more than 1.17 million kilometers reduced in vehicle travel per year.

Meycauayan College Chairman of the Board Marcos C. Hermoso said the partnership with MSpectrum will help the educational institution save on electricity costs while providing quality education to its students.

“With MSpectrum’s support, we are looking forward to reducing our operational expenses. Any savings will greatly benefit the operations of Meycauayan College, and ultimately, we hope to utilize these savings in the form of initiatives that will benefit our stakeholders, which include the teaching staff and students,” he said.

Established in 1925, Meycauayan College is one of the oldest colleges in the province offering a wide range of academic programs from basic education to higher education, including undergraduate and graduate programs.

The partnership coincides with the educational institution’s 100th anniversary this February, marking a century of academic excellence and community service since its founding.

The undertaking with Meycauayan College is well aligned with Meralco’s commitment to deliver sustainable, stable and reliable electricity service to its customers, which include educational institutions that shape future generations.

“We are deeply honored to be entrusted with the opportunity to support Meycauayan College’s adoption of solar energy. This marks just the beginning of our partnership. At MSpectrum, we are committed to supporting our partners every step of the way—addressing any concerns and ensuring a smooth, seamless transition to renewable energy,” MSpectrum President and CEO Ma. Cecilia M. Domingo said.

With its eight years in the industry, MSpectrum has already installed more than 80 megawatts (MW) of solar rooftop project.
