Globe continues to drive Cebu’s digital transformation with the construction of over 30 new cell sites in 2024, reinforcing the province’s role as a key economic hub in Central Visayas.

According to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, Cebu Province and the highly urbanized cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu, posted a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of ₱1.01 trillion in 2023. It accounts for 29.8 percent of the region’s GDP, highlighting its importance in Central Visayas’ economic growth.

The strategic placement of new Globe towers is set to boost mobile and data services, providing faster, more reliable connections. Reliable connectivity bridges communication gaps and improves access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and financial platforms.

As Cebu strengthens its role as a center for commerce, manufacturing, and tourism, its well-established ports, international airport, and growing innovation ecosystem underscore its position for technological growth.

Globe’s network investments complement these advantages by enabling more Cebuanos to access and participate in digital opportunities. The benefits of network expansion are being showcased in the Sinulog celebrations, where Globe is ensuring seamless communication and supporting the tourism sector, a key driver of the local economy.

“Cebu has long been a powerhouse of economic activity in the Visayas, and robust connectivity is essential for sustained growth. By expanding Globe’s network in the province, we aim to enable communities and businesses to thrive in the digital economy,” said Patrick Gloria, Globe Vice President for External Affairs.

Globe’s ongoing network builds underscore its commitment to providing better digital services across the Philippines. These efforts align with the nation’s digital agenda, driving inclusive growth and improving lives by making critical digital services more accessible.
