As part of its commitment to promote public safety, Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has intensified its campaign against urban blight in the municipality of Pateros. Meralco is conducting a five-day wire clearing operation from January 13 to 17 along F.C. Tuazon Street to remove dangling and sagging wires and address the overloading and leaning of electric poles in the area, which may be caused by foreign attachments to the power utility’s facilities.
“Public safety is our top priority. Meralco proactively conducts maintenance of its facilities in close collaboration with local government units to avoid fire hazards and any untoward incidents,” Meralco Vice President and Corporate Communications Head Joe R. Zaldarriaga said. Meralco regularly implements activities under its Anti-Urban Blight Program to ensure safety of residents and to maintain the integrity of its distribution facilities for continuous delivery of reliable power to its customers.
