Japan’s envoy graces 50th PICE Nat’l Convention, supports PH infra dev’t programs

On 30 October 2024, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya attended the 50th National Convention and Technical Conference of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) together with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan. The three-day hybrid convention and engineering expo held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City was organized under the leadership of PICE National President and DPWH Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain.

In attendance were Japanese companies and institutions including the Public Works Research Institute (PWRI) and the Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency (JRTT), who are contributing to international cooperation. The said organizations also gave their presentations during the Plenary Session.

“Japan has always recognized the vital role of infrastructure development in fostering economic growth and enhancing living standards and has long forged a partnership with the Philippines for high quality infrastructure,” Ambassador Endo said in his speech. “I am confident that the results of this Conference will pave the way for more collaboration between Japan and the Philippines and that the discussions will lead to better understanding on new approaches towards a more resilient and sustainable development.”

Highlighting the role of some Japanese technologies, the Ambassador also emphasized that Japan remains committed to supporting the Philippines in advancing strategic infrastructure development in line with the Philippine government’s “Build Better More” program.
