Movem Electric, Inc., the wholly owned integrated electric mobility solutions provider of the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco), has partnered with foam and mattress maker, Uratex Group of Companies, for sustainable logistics.

Movem turned over to Uratex an electric light delivery truck and a 60-kilowatt (kW) DC Fast Charger for its manufacturing plant in Plaridel, Bulacan.

These initiatives support Uratex’s plan to further step up its adoption and deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) with a convenient and accessible charging solution to its drivers and operations.

The company has been gradually converting its internal fleet to electric as part of its commitment to achieve its zero emissions goal, Uratex Managing Director Peachy C. Medina said.

“Movem assisted us from our initial inquiry, choosing the right model fit for our purpose, delivery, installation, and trained our drivers and maintenance personnel. Movem gave us confidence, that for all the uncertainties of this young technology, Movem will be behind us. With this kind of support, we know that this EV will be the first of many more to come,” she added.

Uratex has taken bolder steps in implementing sustainable practices with the adoption of EVs into its fleet in addition to transitioning to renewable energy sources, setting a powerful example on how to reduce carbon intensity in the industry, Movem President Raymond B. Ravelo said.

“Our vision of driving the Philippines’ journey towards an emissions-free transportation sector is only made possible through working with like-minded partners such as Uratex. Together, we will continue to promote key initiatives in vehicle electrification, helping protect and preserve our planet, and ultimately powering good lives for all,” said Ravelo, who is also First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of Meralco.

The partnership with Movem strengthens the collaboration between Uratex and Meralco to foster sustainable operations. Meralco supported Uratex to meet the latter’s requirements to switch to renewable energy sources under the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).

“As your end-to-end energy plus solutions partner, the One Meralco Group goes beyond just delivering stable and reliable power. It is our honor and privilege to partner with Uratex/RGC Group of Companies through initiatives that help you achieve your sustainability goals,” said Engr. Roberto Galang, PEE, ACPE, Assistant Vice President and Head of Meralco Biz.

Meralco and its subsidiaries are committed to enabling and supporting the country’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable transport systems.
