The Member of the European Commission for Budget and Administration, Johannes Hahn, will visit Manila on 12 and 13 of September.
This is the first time that a European Commissioner for Budget and Administration will come to the Philippines.
The Commissioner will take the opportunity of his stay in Manila to promote investment in EU-bonds as a safe asset and the euro (EUR) as a stable global currency.
He is meeting with Philippine budget and finance interlocutors from the country including Finance Secretary Ralph Recto.
In only a couple of years, the EU has become one of the largest issuers in euro; it issues about €150 billion per year.
Meanwile, the Commission has a diversified investor base of around 1,700 different investors from 70 countries. Interest from investors outside Europe is growing.
