As the Philippines and Indonesia mark 75 years of diplomatic ties this year, Shangri-La Makati now features the Circle of Flavors: Indonesian Culinary Treasures from August 12 to 26, 2024. This initiative showcases Indonesia’s best food to taste and culture to immerse here in the country.

Known for having a vibrant blend of flavors, the selection of authentic Indonesian dishes such as Bebek Batutu Bali, Rendang Minang, Nasi Goreng, Gado-Gado, Kambing Bakar Maranggi, and Es Campur were prepared by Executive Sous Chef Rizki Wijatmoko of Shangri-La, Jakarta.

In an exclusive interview with THEPHILBIZNEWS, Chef Rizki said that Indonesian cuisine can be described in three words — spicy, sweet, and tasty.

Some of Indonesia’s staples come from fresh ingredients like coconut, chili, and lemongrass, creating an aromatic and intensely flavorful cuisine. Indeed, this rich array of viands with herbs and spices, along with the taste of savory and tanginess satisfyingly gives an ooze to the palate.

The Indonesian chef also shared “never miss” recommendations at the Circle of Flavors buffet. These are the following: Nasi goreng, Beef rendang, Soto ayam, Beef or Chicken Satay, Mie Goreng, and Ayam Goreng.

“Experience traditional Indonesian cuisine from various regions! Pamper your taste buds with a touch of authentic Indonesian spices only at Makati Shangri-La,” Chef Rizki said.
