The European Chamber of Commerce Philippines-Southern Mindanao Business Council (ECCP-SMBC) signed recently the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Southern Mindanao for an on-the-job training program for schools offering accountancy courses.
According to Antonio Peralta, Chairman of the ECCP-SMBC, this partnership with PICPA Southern Mindanao under the tutelage of its president-elect, Lord Eddie Aguilar, will provide the students not just the skills that they need, but also the appropriate attitude and ethics in their chosen profession.
When the Chairman of ECCP-SMBC was asked what other programs they have for the students, he replied: “Last March 2018 we held a one day work shop on Entrepreneurship for youths coming from Post Conflict areas with the Voluntary Services Organization of the UK, who are also our members here in Southern Mindanao.”
“We will continue to help in our community here, no other intentions, just to help where we are needed and this is what we are happy to do as part of community service and nation building,” he added.
Peralta also shared the other activities that the ECCP-SMBC has planned and said, “Similarly, we have tie ups with UPLB Project SARAI (Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture ) for younger farmers who are facing the challenges of climate change in their farms.”
It is interesting to note that the ECCP-SMBC embarks on all inclusive strategy development in the Southern Mindanao.
“We make sure everyone is even the opportunity to lean and grow with us and through our program. From large farmers cooperatives, Muslim owned businesses, tribal owned businesses, and we have been very effective on this. And what is also very encouraging and elating is that Mayor Sara Duterte supports us in all our endeavors,” the ECCP-SMBC head added.
“Come December (2019), we will be the largest foreign chamber in Mindanao. This means we will have a stronger voice here. The way we do it here strengthens our presence and helps sustain our operations here,” he said.
The ECCP-SMBA has received the best foreign chamber award in Davao City for two consecutive years, and its chairman and his fellow officers expressed their gratitude for the trust and support that the European Delegation has been accorded them in all their plans and endeavors.
