RCBC enables OFWs to open accounts using int’l mobile numbers

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), the country’s multi-awarded and fastest growing digital challenger bank, proudly announces a groundbreaking initiative allowing Filipinos worldwide to open bank accounts using any international mobile number through RCBC Pulz. This breakthrough solution specifically targets over 12 million Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), providing them access to hyper-personalized and state-of-the-art digital banking services. RCBC stands as the first privately-owned universal bank in the Philippines to provide this transformative capability.

Users across the globe can download the RCBC Pulz application from Google Playstore and the Apple App Store. Upon installation, they will be guided through a hassle-free account setup process, requiring a valid Philippine passport and personal information. Authentication is initiated by RCBC through a one-time-password sent to the provided international mobile number, ensuring a secure and efficient verification process.

RCBC Pulz users will benefit from a one-stop-shop, all-in-one digital banking app that offers the widest range of pioneering digital services such as the Philippines’ first in-app Unit Investment Trust Fund (UITF), Investment Management Account facilities, foreign exchange services covering six major currencies, mobile check deposit, spend analyzer, lower remittance fees, personal loans, and soon, instant housing and auto loan applications. 

OFWs can now also benefit from streamlined remittance services, allowing them to transfer funds seamlessly to recipients with RCBC Pulz or RCBC Diskartech accounts or to any of RCBC’s remittance partners in the Philippines. Users can also effortlessly fund their Pulz accounts while overseas and pay bills directly from the app, offering a convenient solution for transactions with specific billers. This development is expected to be an expedited and cost-efficient means for OFWs and their families to receive real-time financial assistance, minimizing transactional and logistical expenses.

RCBC Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer Lito Villanueva said that this latest offering is on top of the bank’s commitment to bring financial inclusion and empowerment beyond the borders of the country.

By reaching out to Filipino expatriates, we connect them both to their loved ones here at home and to the formal banking system which cuts a lot of costs associated with remittances and creates countless opportunities,” Villanueva said.
