Flood protection expert and Philippine-based German engineer Dr. Andreas Klippe received the prestigious PLATINUM AWARD for his international commitment to protecting critical infrastructure, buildings and people against the damage caused by heavy rain and floods. The eight-member jury paid particular attention to his initiative to protect two Covid 19 hospitals in the Philippines.

As an expert in flood protection, Dr. Klippe advises government officials, business owners, and homeowners on how to protect their buildings, properties and critical infrastructure against the ravages of heavy rain and flooding. The protection of two Covid-19 hospitals in the Philippines and 12 educational institutions in Doha Education City in Qatar clinched the award.

“Andreas Klippe is one of the best in his field when it comes to flood protection,” the speaker of the 6-member jury, Josua Laufer, General Manager of Europe’s biggest expert agency, the ExpertPortal. The jury consisted of presenters, journalists and entertainers, known from German ARD, NDR, SAT 1 and Germany’s largest regional broadcaster Hamburg 1. The award ceremony took place on January 21, 2023 in the media city of Mastershausen at Scherer Studios in Germany, close to Frankfurt am Main.

About Dr. ANDREAS KLIPPE

Dr. Klippe is also serving as Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce (ECCP) chapter in Central Luzon. He is adding that “95% of all buildings can be protected against floods”. This is especially true for the doors of one’s home, the garage door to protect one’s valuable car, or even an entire property. “The painstakingly saved money should rather be spent on nice vacations, loving gifts or the children’s education, instead of standing knee-deep in mud in one’s living room and, after cleaning up, expensively repairing and buying new what was destroyed by the floods.”

The same is true for all types of commercial spaces. “Business must go on, after all,” says Dr. Klippe, adding, “but above all, critical infrastructure must remain functional, whether fire departments, police, subways or hospitals.” Therefore, the rule is: Better be protected against climate change and spend your money wisely.
