Over a hundred Mondelēz Philippine team members, including VP & Managing Director of Mondelēz Philippines Aleli Arcilla join the celebration

Mondelēz International reaffirms its commitment, leading change, and doing what’s right for its annual Purpose Day with the theme “Made for Movement.” The month-long celebration is held during the anniversary of the global snacking company’s founding on October 1, mobilizing nearly 31,000 colleagues to activate a key element of the company’s purpose in unison around the world.

“Mondelēz International believes that snacks, when done the right way, can make a movement,” shares VP & Managing Director of Mondelēz Philippines Aleli Arcilla, who participated in the activities. Interestingly, this is Aleli’s first Purpose Day with the snacks company. “As we celebrate the company turning ten this year, we have decided to focus our annual Purpose Day activities on making bold choices, taking actions, and doing the right thing for our colleagues, community, and of course, our consumers who are at the heart of what we do,” she adds.

Mondelēz International celebrated Purpose Day in the Philippines by having five growth-driven activations, with its mission to make the right investments in digital technology and diverse talent, while moving the needle on sustainability. The Purpose Day finale in October was a “PUSOword-forming activity with Mondelēz Philippines team members, including VP & Managing Director Aleli Arcilla, that answers the question, “What moves you towards the future?”

The first activity was the International Coastal Clean-Up Drive with Geocycle and Holcim, held last September at the Las Pinas-Paranaque Wetland Park (LPPWP) as part of the Changemakers campaign, the company’s internal volunteering, charity, and fundraiser program. Seventy-eight coastal rangers and volunteers were present, who collected a total of 545.2 kilograms of plastic waste. Big on various sustainability initiatives, Mondelēz International is a key leader in the Extended Producers Responsibility Act of 2022, continuously going the extra mile even prior through its Sustainable Futures program that helped recover more than 243,000 kilograms of plastic waste this year alone.

Additionally, the company organized the Mondelēz Made to Move online event with a virtual QR Code Hunt, held via Zoom with mental well-being expert and host PJ Lanot and physical wellness expert Joseph Guevara of The Givars Effect. The discussion centered on well-being engaged colleagues and external guests with tips to help manage stress and our time between home life and work.

Last but not the least, we have the Mindful Snacking Mystery Bake-Off, an internal contest challenging colleagues to create something delicious using only the ingredients in a special “mystery box”, incorporating Mondelēz products and a mystery ingredient to make a cake, dessert, or favorite local treat.

“It’s great to see our colleagues get creative while having fun!” Aleli shares. “When we do this, we can accomplish anything. It’s all about staying true to who we are as we celebrate the past ten years while moving and connecting towards the future,” Aleli ends.
