Amidst the challenges in the supply chain that started during the pandemic and dragged on as a result of the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the British Chamber Commerce of the Philippines and other experts remain bullish on the logistics sector.

British Chamber Executive Director and Trustee Chris Nelson who was one of the guest panelists for the webinar “Logistics Sector – Driven Despite Disruptions shared this optimism of other guests. They discussed the latest developments in the logistics sector and how the industry is adapting to the massive changes brought by a post-pandemic economy.

The virtual event was moderated by Mr. Dax Lucas. Moreover, the British Chamber had an informative and engaging discussion with other guest panelists. “Despite the pandemic, UK companies are looking here. We need to support PH opportunities by promoting that through digitalization,” Chris Nelson said.

He also mentioned that technology is a big factor in getting rid of those port congestions. This is why “we also need to look at what advantages to take place” as well as thinking of “medium to long term” plans with projects that would improve the logistics sector. In conclusion, Nelson emphasized that “You cannot control the things that happen outside of the country, but we can control what happens locally. We must prioritize tackling our macro-economic challenges.”

Furthermore, the British Chamber continues to promote the local market, present its available business opportunities, and support UK SMEs in the Philippines. In correlation, the Chamber recently held a Virtual Trade Mission for Food and Beverage last month and an upcoming British Meat event to promote pork exports on December 2, 2022 — especially since the Philippines is the second-largest export market of British pork in Asia.
